Honey, I’ve got nothing to wear!

Climatic conditions in Zambia and advice on what clothes to bring with

Much of your fascinating safari journey will find you up on the Zambian escarpment, and since most of our safaris take place during the African Winter, there is a real possibility of experiencing some quite chilly weather...

So, whilst during the day light clothing is recommended, a light jacket should always be kept in reach. It would also be sensible to pack a sweatshirt or a warmer jersey for early mornings, especially during June and July and those cooler evenings.

On any walking safari it is recommended that you wear clothes in neutral colours that will integrate into your surroundings and will not alert or irritate the animals. Leave your blue clothes at home, since mosquitoes are known to be particularly fond of this colour. It is extremely important that you bring comfortable shoes with, particularly boots and light closed shoes.

Don’t forget your binoculars (7x42 to 10x50)! Ideally one pair per person.

Luggage is limited to a maximum of 20 kg per Person (on fly-in safaris this is reduced to 10 kg!). Wherever possible, please try and utilise soft bags instead of rigid suitcases. A small backpack for your camera equipment and personal bits ‘n bobs can double up perfectly as your hand luggage (again maximum 10 kg).
