What to put in your travel bag?

A comprehensive checklist for your Zambian Safari

Clothes:
- Comfortable Hiking Boots.
- Light, closed shoes / trainers.
- Sandals.
- Hat.
- Windbreaker / fleece / rain jacket.
- Jersey / sweatshirt / light woollen waistcoat.
- 2 pairs of long safari trousers.
- 2 pairs of safari shorts.
- 4 pairs of socks.
- 3 short-sleeved shirts or blouses.
- 1 long-sleeved shirt or blouse.
- 2 T-Shirts.
- 1 pair of pyjamas.
- 1 swimming costume.
- 1 pair of sports shorts.
- 6 x underwear.
- Belt.

Toiletries and medication:
- Malaria prophylaxis.
- Anti-mosquito spray or cream and Insect repellent.
- Travel sickness pills.
- Sunscreen (high factor recommended).
- After Sun lotion.
- Lip Ice / Protective Balm.
- Shampoo / conditioner.
- Deodorant / Anti-perspirant.
- Toothbrush and toothpaste.
- Dental floss.
- Comb and / or hairbrush.
- Shaving necessities.
- Nail clippers & file.
- Tweezers.
- Sanitary pads / tampons (A/R).
- N.B. A Hairdryer will be useless (no electricity!).

General:
- Passport.
- Medical aid card.
- Flight tickets / vouchers.
- Bag / wallet for money etc.
- Credit / debit cards.
- Driving Licence.
- Sunglasses with case.
- Reading glasses with case (if worn).
- Adaptor for plugs.
- Binoculars (1 pair per person).
- Torch (small, with extra batteries).
- Sewing kit.
- Pocket knife / Multitool, with small scissors

Camera equipment:
- Compact digital camera, with a wide focal range &
  good zoom facility.
- Light backpack.
- Lens cleaning kit.
- Enough memory cards!
- Enough batteries!
- Battery charger. (If possible solar-powered).
